Teens and possible drugs at a house party

Community is up in arms over a house party involving teens.

NEW REDRUTH – A house party that occurred on Friday November 22 in New Redruth, Saint Michael Street had some residents concerned about a drug query and complaints went around quickly about alcohol bottles thrown in their homes.

CPF member, Willie Cronje (vice chairman) came through to see what had gone on at the party.

He explained, “Neighbours had complained about the bottles that were thrown over their walls and into their yards. There were plenty of underage kids at this party and alcohol was confiscated.”

Cronje also explained that he was not allowed to search any of the kids or their bags but was informed that there were heavy drugs packed inside.

When he asked a few kids if they had drank, he said, “Their response was no but you could see that they were on something.”

Other residents in the area commented on the party. A shy lady said, “The party caused no problem or no issues.”

Another resident of the area said, “We heard nothing about drugs. The only problem was the noise, the cars coming up and down at quite a speed and the fact that we were not notified about this party.”

“When I came back from action in Alberton, there were a whole bunch of cops who were banging on the door at the house. The entire street was filled with teenagers and you could actually smell the dagga,” said a resident of the area.
