Library craze for young readers

Exciting reading on Saturdays for kids aged 4-10 at Brackenhurst Library.

BRACKENHURST – A dynamic team are reviving the status of the library in Brackenhurst. A project which began three years ago is now progressing to a platform for children ages 4 to 10 which helps them to read books and learn in the process.

“Interested kids want to read,” says Thomas Badenhorst, a member of Friends of the Brackenhurst Library – an established programme for kids who cannot read or would like to read in a kid friendly environment. The team are led by their passion in the reading-growth for kids.

In the foyer, there are books one could purchase. “People can help support the project by donating too,” said Erica Ross.
The team exists on the basis of the library. “It is the best library, we want to keep this on going,” says Thomas Badenhorst. “The kids are interested in this library.”

Parents are welcome to attend and encourage their kids to read at the reading classes. After all, “It’s the parents who should encourage kids to read,” said Angelika Gibson.

The general discussion lead to an in depth approach for future plans to help with further programmes that help kids better their reading skills, etc.

Saturdays, kids can visit the library and have an outing with their family by enjoying a reading session. Children 4-10 years of age from 9:30 to 11:00. Johanna Tantij and Mary Daniell will be the readers to inspire the kids for an enlightened future.
