Fun at Makro on Braai Day

Schools in Alberton took the opportunity to raise funds for different sporting codes when they sold delicious boerewors rolls to shoppers at Makro on Tuesday September 24.

NEWMARKET – With the day perfectly scripted, with sunshine and the life of Alberton in full bloom. A boerewors topped it well for many as they had just had a complete shopping experience. Even more so, the money raised by scholars assisted most of them with finances to take a sporting trip to represent their schools.

The passion showed by Hoërskool Alberton learners was contagious as they relentlessly sought after every hungry shopper at Makro. One learner said to one of the many shoppers around, “You do look hungry sir, and I can tell your son is hungry too.”

It was all fun to watch, and the stiff competition between Marais Viljoen and Hoërskool Alberton was enough to keep bystanders entertained. While Allies went for the direct approach, Marais Viljoen sold the achievement of their Netball girls going to Malaysia for a championship tournament.

The day proved to be fruitful for all the schools present. From cricketers, netball players and rugby players, it was all worth taking a day out and raising funds for their schools.
