Tamaho Child Care Centre celebrates five years

Tamaho is a good example of how organisations can support communities and make a difference in the long-run.

TAMAHO Child Care Centre in Thokoza recently celebrated its fifth birthday thanks to Henkel.

The crèche, a Henkel initiative, provides a safe, nurturing environment for disadvantaged children in the area.

To mark the occasion, Henkel has refurbished the crèche and added brand-new appliances, furniture and educational toys to keep meeting its little pupils’ early development needs.

Some of the little one’s celebrating their safe haven’s fifth birthday.

The fully equipped centre accommodates 70 children between the ages of two and six. In addition to receiving a solid educational foundation, they receive three nutritious meals every day. Counselling services are also available for them and their families or caregivers.

Over the years, Henkel employees have shown their commitment to the initiative – and they will do so again at the anniversary event. Clothes donated and collected by staff for Tamaho will be distributed to the children’s families and caregivers on the day.

“With almost 65 per cent of our work force living in this area, the crèche is one of the ways in which we have been giving back to the community. We’re committed to investing in the leaders of tomorrow, some of who may join our company in future, and giving South Africa’s children the best possible start in life,” says Sibongile Manzana, Henkel Head of Human Resources: Sub Saharan Africa. “Tamaho is a good example of how organisations can support communities and make a difference in the long-run.”
