Development centre for the youth

Our youth is our future, their development is our survival.

The development centre in Palm Ridge Extension 1 was established in 2005 and has been sponsored by the department of social development.

The centre manager, Thami Mtshali and his seven staff members operate from three mobile units. The centre has a fully equipped computer centre to assist many of the registered youth who need to acquire computer skills.

“The centre is for everyone. The main aim of this centre is to alleviate poverty among our communities. People come from all over Ekurhuleni to register at the centre. We follow four basic pillars namely, skills development, entrepreneurship, social programmes where we give out food parcels to the frail and unemployed families and lastly, to inform.

“We do referral service for job-seeking youth and train them for successful interviews whenever the opportunity arises,” explained Mtshali.
