Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality wishes to respond to allegations made in the Alberton RECORD published August 14, regarding patients having to wait outside the clinic because somebody had forgotten the keys at home:

“The allegation was investigated and could not be traced. The clinic keys are kept by the facility manager and another professional nurse,” Sam Modiba, Ekurhuleni spokesperson, explained.

” The first one out of the two to arrive unlocks the clinic. According to the article, the clinic opened at 08:00 and therefore services were not compromised as the clinic is scheduled to open at 08:00.”

The article alleges that people waited from 06:00 to 08:00 to be let into the clinic, he added.

“This is correct as the official opening hours for the Palm Ridge Clinic is from 08:00 to 16:30. The community is therefore requested to refrain from coming to the clinic early before the official service hours as this lengthens their waiting time unnecessarily.”
