House robbery caught on camera

Three suspects entered a property in Bloutulp Road, Verwoerdpark escaping with valuables and dodging prison sentences on August 3.

The family left for the day to watch their children’s hockey tournament and returned to find their gate off its hinges, the wooden door broken and the security gate broken right out of the wall.

The criminals managed to get away with a safe filled with silver and costume jewellery, perfumes and a play station. “They never had much time because the alarm was activated, although the security company never received any signal,” said a homeowner.

The suspects as well as the vehicle they arrived in were all caught on camera as the suspects drove through to the backyard. According to the homeowners the vehicle looked like it could be a Nissan Tiida.

“They grabbed what they could and valuables they could sell,” said the homeowners.

According to the video footage the criminals managed to do all of the above within six minutes. The security company immediately responded to the home owners call and contacted SAPS Alberton.

As police were on the scene, they received another call of a house robbery taking place that very second. The night before the robbery, two other homes in Nerina Avenue were also robbed, adding up to four house robberies on Saturday alone.

The homeowners also told the RECORD that two people came to the house two weeks prior to the robbery asking the domestic about UIF (Unemployment Insurance Fund). The domestic ignored their requests and went back into the house.

Further investigations will take place and video footage and camera surveillance was handed over to SAPS Alberton.
