Cryolipolysis also known as “Body Fat Freezing” or “Cool Sculpting”, refers to a medical device used to destroy fat cells.
The principle relies on controlled cooling or freezing for a non-invasive localised reduction of fat deposits to reshape body contours.
The exposure to cooling or freezing is set so that it causes cell death of subcutaneous fat tissue, without apparent damage to the overlying skin. Once crystalised, the fat cells die and are naturally eliminated from your body.
This treatment is non-invasive. There are no major side effects, however there are contraindications to be taken into consideration for those who are interested in the treatment, such as Raynaud’s disease, pregnancy, implanted medical devices, recent surgery in an area to be treated, hernia, cold sensitivities, hepatitis C, heart conditions, uncontrolled diabetes.
The second step of the treatment is Cavitation. The ultrasonic head emits strong sound waves in the targeted area that break down pockets of fat cells. The frozen fat cells are disrupted and metabolised to glycerol and free fatty acids.
Not only does this treatment cause the frozen fat cells to explode, it aids in cellulite reduction.
Radio Frequency may form part of the Cryolipolysis treatment but it is a standard treatment of its own.
