Gold Reef City presents the second annual Roulette Masters

The Tsogo Sun Roulette Masters tournament is under way at Gold Reef City and members from the media were invited to try their luck at the roulette tables.

Tsogo Sun’s thrilling Roulette Masters tournament returns for its second year and is currently underway at Gold Reef City as well as the rest of the group’s casinos countrywide.

The first ever Roulette Masters tournament was launched at Gold Reef City in 2014 and attracted 29 222 buy-ins, exceeding expectations and reaching an eventual prize pool of R2.922 million.

“We believe this year’s Roulette Masters will be even bigger and better as it’s now a known entity that delivers on its promise of thrills and great rewards,” says Steve Hight, Director of Gaming for Tsogo Sun. The buy-in price of only R100 makes Roulette Masters affordable fun for every entertainment-seeker.

“Gold Reef City prides itself on providing an authentic gaming experience and this year patrons can once again have the opportunity to take part in this large-scale gaming experience,” says Mike Page, general manager at Gold Reef City.

The eight-week tournament will run until Saturday 28 March, with individual casino qualifying rounds running until 13 March and casino finals to be held on 14 March. The Masters will culminate in style with the grand final at Montecasino on 28 March, where a minimum of R1.7 million in prize money will be won by lucky wheel spinners.

Qualifying rounds in the Roulette Masters will be played at each of Tsogo Sun’s 14 casino – Montecasino, Suncoast, Gold Reef City, Silverstar, Golden Horse Casino, The Ridge Casino, Hemingway’s Casino, Emnotweni Casino, Garden Route Casino, Goldfields Casino, Mykonos Casino, Blackrock Casino, The Caledon Casino and Queens Casino – with between one to five players constituting a heat. After buying in, each player receives chips and must play every spin. Players will be given three spins at the end of three spins, the chips remaining will be totalled and scores will be entered onto the leader board. Players can enter as often as they like.

At the end of the qualifying period, the player with the highest chip winnings from a single buy-in will automatically qualify for a seat in the group semi-finals, and the next 20 players will play off for the remaining six seats in the casino finals. The top scorers from each property as per the unit’s allocation will earn a place at the grand final at Montecasino, totalling 40 players.

The semi-finals round of the grand final will bring the number of finalists down to seven. These players will then each have seven spins, with the overall winner being the player with the highest total value in chips at the end of the seven spins. All seven finalists will take home cash prizes of varying values.

“As with all Tsogo Sun’s group-wide tournaments, every cent of the buy-ins is allocated towards the eventual prize money, so the eventual prize money may increase, depending on the number of buy-ins over the nine weeks of the tournament,” comments Hight.

“As the premier gaming destinations around the country, Tsogo Sun constantly strives to take the lead in hosting tournaments that promise gamers the chance of a really big win, adding significantly to the excitement of the event,” he adds. “This Roulette Masters competition will be a highlight on the entertainment calendar as the fun and thrills go on for many weeks and the prize money at the end of the tournament is well worth the wait. Our casinos are all ready and waiting to welcome Roulette lovers to the tournament and ensure that they have a great experience on the gaming floor.”
