The Daredevil Run in aid of cancer awareness

The RECORD went to support the Daredevil Run, held in aid of cancer, at Zoo Lake on Friday, February 19.

It takes a man in a Speedo, a very brave man, to pull this one off.

Picture this, men running through peak-hour traffic wearing nothing but a Speedo. But, it’s all worth it because cancer doesn’t choose age, gender, colour or body shape. It impacts everyone.

*One in every six men, and one in every seven women will suffer from cancer in their lifetime.

The Daredevil Run has grown from one brave soul daring to jog through peak hour traffic in a Speedo, to a massive countrywide phenomenon with a noble cause. This year the Daredevil Run, in aid of cancer awareness, was hosted at the Zoo Lake on Friday, February 19.

“There’s a lot of awareness around other forms of cancer and it’s refreshing to see that men are now being made aware that they are also at risk”, said Alberton resident and Daredevil runner Shawn Garrett (38). “I feel that this is a great initiative and hope to see this event grow along with the awareness,” he added.
