What does the CPF do?

The Brackendowns CPF is a group of volunteers that aims to assist the community in a number of different ways.

ALBERTON – Brackendowns Community Police Forum (CPF) is a non-profitable organisation that consists of a group of volunteers that come together at specific points to patrol the streets of the Brackendowns cluster. They assist residents of the area by utilising their effort, time and money, to help in situations like accident scenes, house break-ins and domestic violence. The volunteers also help people home that are found under the influence. According to the CPF spokesperson, Freddie Stapelberg, the CPF aims to create visibility to decrease crime and protect the community of Brackendowns.

Three different sectors are detailed on the Brackendowns CPF website reportedly according to the SAPS designation.

Sector one: Brackendowns and Brackendowns Ext. 5

Sector two: Meyersdal and Brackenhurst

Sector three: Mayberry Park, Brackenhurst Ext. 2, Albertsdal, Alrode South and Caravan Park.

These sectors contain households of over 40 000 residents, excluding the industrial area with its businesses. The CPF tagline, “Partners in policing,” means that the CPF assists the police in any crime related issues, including re-directing traffic in cases of accidents and/or road works.

The Brackendowns CPF holds meetings that involve all the emergency services and encourages the involvement of the community. The CPF also launches events and special operations with teams of other emergency services.

Stapelberg stated, “Brackendowns CPF would like to urge all communities of the sectors listed above to support, attend our events or to join our structure. As part of the community and the Brackendowns CPF structure, we would like to thank the dedicated CPF team for their efforts and support by making a difference in preventing and resisting crime. We as the CPF of Brackendowns also would like to thank the community that showed their support and interest.”
