Bang your Pot and make your voice heard

ALBERTON- Join the EPIC Foundation at the AMCARE night market on Friday, November 27, and show your support for the Bang your Pot project against sexual violence.

It’s time for 16 Days of Activism against sexual violence and time for South Africans to take a stand. To take this further, the EPIC Foundation is launching the Bang your Pot project on November 27.

The Bang your Pot concept is derived from South-African 60s and 70s township culture where a community member, who noticed anything untoward, would grab a stick and start beating a saucepan to make a noise and attract the attention of surrounding neighbours, who would then also begin beating their saucepans.

Once a small crowd had gathered, the crowd would drive the perpetrator away. Bang you Pot challenges individuals and organisations to bang their pots and take a stand against rape and abuse.

These challenges will be recorded and posted on social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The aim is for the combination of all these posts to create a domino effect to intensify awareness.
