You’re inviting criminals – CPF

Don't let criminals fill their Christmas stockings with your goods.

The Greater Alberton Community Policing Forum (CPF) warns residents not to leave their belongings in full view of passers-by.

Pieter Schreiber, the CPF chairperson, said their night patrollers noticed that residents are becoming increasingly negligent.

“We have seen garage and front doors being left open in the late evenings and although we know it gets hot in this sweltering temperatures we would advise people to rather be more safety aware,” Schreiber explained.

Another concern, Schreiber said, is that people leave their living room curtains open.

“This is a way to advertise the contents in your home. We can see how big your television screens are as well as what you are watching. Criminals will use this opportunity to see when you are going to bed.”

Schreiber said that people should be more aware especially with the festive season just around the corner as criminal activity tends to increase around this time of year.
