Rhema teams up with Mmatema on Idols

Alberton’s Rhema Varrie will team up with Idols SA Top 4 finalist from Limpopo, Mmatema Moremi on Sunday November 8.

JOHANNESBURG – With the shocking departure of Loyiso Gijana last Sunday only four Idols SA Season 11 contestants are left rehearsing this week, and for once all four of them will get a chance to perform on Sunday before they have to bid farewell to yet another friend.

The songs for the Top 3 Spectacular at the State Theatre this Sunday [8 November] were chosen for the contestants by the Idols SA band, and will kick off with two duets.

Siphelele Ngcobo (24) from Inanda and Karabo Mogane (24) from Mbombela are teaming up to perform L’loyd Cele and Loyiso Bala’s hit “Thando”, and the only woman left standing in this competition, 23-year-old Mmatema Moremi from Limpopo, is singing Ariana Grande’s “Love Me Harder” with Rhema Varrie (21) from Alberton.

There are also spectacular guest appearances this week by the South African group Gangs of Ballet and by the Motswako Originator himself, Khuli Chana, along with Patoranking.

But as much as it is a Spectacular it is also still a competition, and the contestants are also preparing two individual songs each with which to impress the judges and more importantly, the fans, this Sunday.

Karabo is preparing the Al Green classic “Let’s Stay Together” and taking a leaf from Siphelele’s playbook with a South African hit, Zahara’s “Umthwalo”.

Mmatema is working on Chaka Khan’s anthem “I’m Every Woman” and Mafikizolo’s “Happiness”.

Rhema is singing the Jackson Five’s “I Want You Back” and the Miguel hit, “Adorn”.

And Siphelele hopes to impress with another Luther Vandross classic, “Dance With My Father”, as well as ZamaJobe’s “Ndawo Yami”.

Voting for the Top 3 will open during Sunday’s show and close at 22:00 on Tuesday, 10 November. All the Terms and Conditions for Idols SA Season 11 voting are explained on the Idols SA website.

Tickets to the Idols SA Season 11 Live Spectaculars are available from Computicket.
