Time to get your mo’ on

Join the Movember campaign to change the face of men’s health.

The annual Movember campaign, which prides itself on changing the face of men’s health, is back. The movement held throughout November has raised over R 4 billion for 831 programs targeting prostate and testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity in men. Over four million people from 21 countries have signed up globally to participate in the campaign.

Over the last 12 years the movement has aimed to make the moustache a symbol of men’s health. The Movember Foundation stated that, “it takes a brave man to grow a beard, it takes a braver man to give up his beard in the name of men’s health”.

The Movember rules are to begin on November 1 clean shaven and grow a moustache for the month. The act is meant to create conversation and allow people to speak about men’s health issues. Men taking part can let people know that they have grown their mo’ to raise awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer, male mental health and physical inactivity. People can also donate to participants’ Mo Space pages. Participants stand a chance to win R 5000 for themselves, R 5000 for their Mo Space page, automatic membership to the Movember platinum club and an exclusive product hamper from Captain’s Beard.

To qualify, sign up and join the ‘Beard Sacrifice’ team on www.movember.com, create a Mo Space page and list your age, motivation and reason for sacrificing your beard and upload a photo to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the #Movember and #LivewithHeart hashtags.
