Construction of swimming pool in Eden Park

Construction at the Eden Park Swimming Pool is going ahead — at last.

Last Thursday saw the site handover of Eden Park Swimming Pool by Ward Councillor Robert Pienaar, contractor Moreteng Investment, engineers, architects, surveyors and Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality officials.

The contractor, Maphefo Mohuba, confirmed that construction will start in the next two or three weeks, after the site handover. It was estimated that the construction of the pool will be completed in 15 months. The pool should be ready by March 2017.

A site certificate was signed by the contractor and handed over on Thursday. The contractor must still meet with Pienaar to discuss the appointment of a community liaison officer (CLO), a sub-contractor and employment of local labourers.

“I am happy the construction of the pool is at last going ahead. Many residents have been asking me, almost daily, about the construction. In February I stated in the RECORD that the construction was to start by May but nothing happened because no suitable contractor could be appointed. In just 15 months we will all be swimming in our brand new pool,”said Clr Robert Pienaar.
