The Bag Lady

Have you ever thought about how much extra time we have in summer?

It takes me half the time to shower (I feel more energised and shower quickly), it takes me a quarter of the time to get dressed (only one layer instead of three), it takes me less time to make lunch (salads and fruit) and it takes me less time to get to work. Not sure on this one but it really does. Maybe my car just goes faster when it’s hot!  So you can guess? I’m loving life.

The gardens are also beginning to look a real treat. I’ve got a pink Bottle Brush and it’s absolutely beautiful, the pansies and Impatiens are blooming, not to mention the gorgeous roses which are flowering in abundance. It really is a wonderful time of the year. Enjoy it.

Swimming costumes

A reader is asking for assistance in buying a swimsuit. She says she’s not young or small and she can’t find a suitable swimsuit. Any helpful advice from readers for a lady in distress?  Email or phone me if you can help.

Don’t “whine”, bring your own

We went to the Ocean Basket at Mall of the South last week for dinner and asked for a bottle of wine to enjoy with our meal. Apparently they have no liquor licence yet, nor do most other restaurants, maybe all, I’m not too sure. But the good news is Col’Cacchio say you can bring your own wine to their restaurant. Now that’s not only good news, it’s great news!

If you are wondering about all the other restaurants and whether they are also offering the same deal, please phone centre management (086 111 6687) to enquire.

Christmas is coming

Only another 11 weeks until Christmas and this year it falls very nicely with Christmas Day and New Year’s Day on Fridays. So for many this will mean a full two weeks off work.

I haven’t made my Christmas cake yet but will do next week. It definitely adds to the flavour of the cake if you make it a few months prior to eating as the brandy has chance to soak in all the fruit and nuts, yummy.

I have to admit I haven’t been as good with my Christmas gift buying this year but I have made a start and have quite a few gifts in the cupboard. If you begin now and can buy a few each month you’ll be better off than most!

Make a start

Write a list of the all the people you wish to buy gifts for and a few gift ideas next to their name. Put a monetary value also which will help.

When you are out shopping have a good look around at the ideas you have in mind and write down prices. Check your list again and then make a decision. Stick to it and go and buy the gifts. It will most definitely save you time and money in December.

Buy gift wrap and gift tags now too, as well as sticky tape and ribbons.

See, you’ve made a start.

That’s if for this week. Shop till you drop.
