Collision after man allegedly skips traffic light

A vehicle hit a streetlamp pole and a traffic light on September 30.

TWO people were injured in an accident at the Voortrekker Road and N12-onramp intersection during the early peak hour traffic on Wednesday, September 30.

Bergmans Medical Rescue Services, Emer-G-Med and National Paramedical Services (NPS) were on the scene after two vehicles collided.

A woman was reportedly driving a Kia on the Voortrekker Road towards Alberton from South Crest, when she collided with a Isuzu Bakkie that was crossing the intersection after allegedly skipping a traffic light. Her vehicle hit a streetlamp pole and a traffic light.

Kevin Peel, NPS spokesperson, said the female driver did not sustain any serious injuries but was transported to the Netcare Union Hospital for minor neck, back and head injuries.

A male passenger from the bakkie sustained minor injuries and was transported by Bergmans to the Natalspruit Hospital for further treatment.
