RECORD called the Alberton Customer Care Centre 12 times on Tuesday, September 1, without success.

Through the process, it was discovered that one contact number listed on the Ekurhuleni website was incorrect and another was out of service.
The RECORD contacted the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) Communications and Brand Management Department regarding the difficulties that residents may face in making meaningful contact with the Alberton CCC.
“Information placed on the website is received from departments, it is their responsibility to check and ensure that the information is current and correct,” said EMM spokesperson, Themba Gadebe.
With regards to the number that was not working, Gadebe said: “The number used to be operational as a switchboard number, however, the Integrated Information Communication and Technology (ICT) department phased out all the switchboards in EMM. The line does however sound operational to a caller”.
Residents are asked to contact departments directly if they need assistance.
