Alberton’s Altan claims South African championship

ALBERTON- Altan Bouw from Laerskool President Steyn is South Africa’s new Mini Rok champion.

Altan managed a dramatic last heat win in the Vortex Mini Rok class, after a weekend of action at the hot and steamy iDube Raceway, near Pietermaritzburg.

The biggest upset of the day was that Altan scored a second place and two vital wins in the primary school Mini Rok 60cc class thus drawing even on points with reigning champion JP Hamman, from Worcester; Altan snagged the title by virtue of one more win earlier in the year.

Stuart White from Bloemfontein emerged as Junior Rok champion, Chassen Bright from Port Elizabeth retained the Super Rok championship and Nathan Parkins from Pretoria won the SA IAME X30 shifter title.

Winning the SA National Mini Rok championship ensures Altan an opportunity to represent South Africa at the Vortex Rok World Finals in Lonato, Italy at the end of October.
