Last home game for Alberton Rugby Club

ALBERTON – The last round of home matches in the Golden Lions Rugby League will see the A Square Forklift Alberton Rugby

The A Square Forklift Alberton team will have their work cut out for them as they face a club celebrated for producing Springbok greats such as fullback Conrad Jantjies, scrumhalf Enrico Januarie and 2003 SA Player of the Year, Ashwin Willemse.The Tirfu Raiders club is well-known within the GLRU-borders and also further afield for their style of play even at the national championship level.

In their last home game Alberton trailed the Wanderers Rugby Club 0-29 at halftime and despite three tries, by Gavin Jacobs, Anthony Kapp, Arno Smit, and a conversion by new fullback Henry Payne in the second half, victory remained out of reach for Alberton as they suffered a 17-55 defeat.

The Alberton Rugby Club was established in 1912 and has been taking part in GLRU competitions since 1928. After making their debut in 2003, the Tirfu Raiders Rugby Club has become a permanent fixture in the leagues.
