Google lets you take back that email

The community of last minute proof readers have reason to thank Google this week.

Google is finally releasing a feature which allows users to take back flawed emails before they hit their intended targets’ inboxes. The “Undo Send” function was unveiled on Tuesday, June 23, to Gmail users.

The Undo function is moving from Google Labs, an opt-in, to Gmail and will be a web-based, optional add-in for all Gmail users. The function will allow you extra time to decide whether you would like to send an e-mail after you have pressed the “send” button.

In order to use the undo function, users will have go to “Settings” in Gmail and enable the “Undo Send” option. Users are able to customise the time available to cancel the delivery of their message. The options are five, 10, 20 or 30 seconds time.

The Undo Send option will not be able to take emails out of other peoples’ inboxes or prevent morning-after email regret, but will assist users who suddenly realise they’ve committed a grievous grammar error or instantly feel shame over a badly worded email rant.
