Care for the homeless by donating winter clothes

The South's first rent-free, premises-free, pop-up clothing store for the poor, operating entirely on the street and curated by volunteers, will be hosted by Ekklesia Family Church, in partnership with pastor Dominique's soup kitchens.

ALBERTON – On Saturday, June 20, Johannesburg will play host to the 213th worldwide street store, located on the fence of the Maurice-Freeman Recreation Centre, Bertrams, between 09:00 and 16:00. The intention is to bridge the gap between the haves and have-not’s.

Clothing and shoe donations will be welcome during the event. Donations are also welcome at three drop-off points around Johannesburg South, on June 13, at Alberton City Shopping Centre, The Glen Shopping Centre and Ekklesia Family Church, corner Eugene Marais and Micro Road, Elandspark.

The aim is to bring warmth to the homeless this winter by giving them warm clothes, shoes and blankets. The aim is also to help restore dignity, respect and love to those who have forgotten the meaning of these words.

For some, this may be the first dignified shopping experience of their lives. So, this is not only a chance to put clothes on the backs of those who are less fortunate, but also an opportunity to give them a reason to feel proud.
