Municipal departments explain their roles

Residents who visited the Customer Care Centre (CCC) in Vosloorus, on May 15, left well informed on what services the Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality offers and how to use them.

VOSLOORUS – EMM’s service delivery open day featured multiple departments’ exhibitions and presentations as part of an initiative to inform residents on different services provided by EMM and how to use them. Community members also took the opportunity to ask questions and were advised by officials on how best to go about resolving them.

Tshidi Moloi was pleased to meet officials from the Human Settlements Department who could help her with her housing issue.

“I thought Ekurhuleni does not care. I’ve been battling to resolve a family house dispute for almost two years only to find out today that I’ve been knocking on the wrong doors. After today, I know which documents are needed from me and where to go to resolve this housing issue,” said Moloi.

“We find people visiting the CCC standing in queues only to find they are at the wrong place and leave without their concerns being resolved. The knowledge people received here today will give them the power to avoid being sent from pillar-to-post and having their issues resolved on time by the relevant departments,” said Sipho Mahlare, customer relations manager for Vosloorus.

One of the presentations was set in the form of a play. This play depicted the different roles of different departments, the importance of knowing emergency numbers, the dangers of illegal electricity connections and pest and rodent control.
