Vodacom Bulletjies in carnival of rugby

The most popular Bulletjie Day was well supported.

Loftus Versfeld was a carnival of rugby as close to 6 000 boys and girls, aged between six and eight, participated in the annual Vodacom Bulletjie Rugby Day, on Saturday, May 9.

Now in its 22nd year, the annual event is a highlight on the rugby calendar as approximately 12 000 parents, friends and family members flock to the famous stadium for the rugby festival.

Once again, the day succeeded in its primary goal of instilling sportsmanship among the participants.

Since the launch of Vodacom Bulletjie Rugby in 1993, it has grown into the biggest mini-rugby project in South Africa. The first formal Vodacom Bulletjie Rugby Day was held at Loftus Versfeld in 1996, where 2 000 boys had the unique experience of playing at the famous stadium.

This year had the most entries as nearly a thousand additional boys and girls participated in the derby compared to 2014.

More than 600 teams, consisting of 5 927 players, took part in the challenge and made the day a huge success.
