Suspect gets a taste of mob-justice

On Wednesday, March 11 a 22-year-old man suspected of numerous house break-ins in Palmridge, was saved by the police from an almost fatal mob-justice attack.

EDEN PARK – Angry community members where assaulting the suspect with stones and sticks and everything they could lay their hands on.

A resident, Lorina Dlomo, alleged that two weeks ago, the suspect broke into her house and stole car tyres. She said he returned after three days and stole a toolbox.

Another resident, who asked not to be named, said the suspect tried to break into her house on Monday, March 9, and again on March 11, when he was caught by the community.

“The mob wanted to kill the suspect, but my neighbour and I begged them not to do that. We stood over him to protect him even though he stole from me,” said Maria.

No case was opened against the suspect. The police called an ambulance and the suspect was taken to hospital.
