Camborne Street is a little safer now

An armed suspect was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning.

ALBERTON – New Redruth has been plagued by a syndicate who has been breaking into houses in the early hours of the morning.

On Friday morning two suspects targeting houses in this area was stopped in their tracks.

This was thanks to pro-active work done by CPS Security. They received many complaints of break-ins and attempted break-ins.

CPS Security’s tactical teams had operations in the affected area. On Friday morning at 04:00 the CPS Security’s tactical team’s hard work paid off after two suspects were arrested. The operation ran from 00:00 to 05:00 in the morning.

The syndicate’s modus operandi was to either come through sliding doors or remove windows from its frames. They would steal products like televisions, Play-Stations, jewellery, tablets, cellphones and smaller items.

The security company received a call at 01:00 from a resident of New Redruth, informing them that they saw two men walking up the Camborne Road. They sent out tactical units and when these two men were confronted they jumped over a wall and onto a property.

CPF (Community Policing Forum) and CPS Security members worked together to search for them. At 04:00 they were able to apprehend the suspects hiding on a property in Camborne Road.

A suspects were arrested and taken to Alberton SAPS.

Various housebreaking implements were found with the suspect as well as two knives.

“No gloves were found on the suspects so we hope to link him to all the housebreaking in the past two weeks,”

“We urge all residents in the Alberton area, if you see something, say something,” CPS Security spokesperson urged.
