Call to audition for ‘The Story I am About to Tell’

Wits Theatre announces open auditions on Thursday January 22 and Friday 23 January for its March 2015 production of The Story I am About to Tell to be presented in association with mehlo-maya (eye-to-the-sun).

Alberton – Auditions will take place at the Nunnery opposite Wits Theatre on East Campus Wits University, Braamfontein.

Actors may audition on either date, and can collect Audition Packages any time from January 14 between 09:00 and 4.30 pm at the Performing Arts Administration (PAA), next to Wits Theatre.

The show will rehearse and be staged between February 18 and March 29, 2015.

The Story I am About to Tell, the highly acclaimed and well-travelled docudrama about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), was originally produced and staged by mehlo-maya (eye-to-the-sun), and ran from 1997 to 2001.

The show is directed by Robert Coleman, Assistant Director Mahlatsi Mokgonyana, with design by Nadya Cohen.

Cast:

Mam Catherine: African Female 50’s who can play woman in her late 60s early 70s.

Duma: African male in his 40’s.

Dan: White male in his 30’s.

KK: Young African male in 20’s.

Thandi: Young African Female in 30’s.

Narrator: African Male in 30’s/40’s who can play a 50-year-old.
