Great start to 2015 for SAPS

Brackendowns SAPS started 2015 with a bang by securing multiple high stakes arrests and convictions.

One suspect was arrested in September for theft, house-breaking and violating parole. The suspect was convicted in December and sentenced to twenty years in prison.

Another suspect was arrested after stealing a tank full of petrol. The man allegedly forced a petrol pump attendant to fill his car with petrol at gunpoint and fled the scene. Brackendowns SAPS was able to trace the car to the suspect and arrested him on January 1.

A pair of armed robbers that were arrested last year were sentenced to life imprisonment and an additional 25 years each. They were convicted of the armed robbery and shooting of security guards at a construction site in Alberton.

The Brackendowns SAPS would like to congratulate Constable Matebula and Constable Tsoeni in particular for their instrumental roles in these cases.

Residents are invited to take part in the Community Police Forum; the first meeting will be held on January 26 at Ekurhuleni West College beginning at 18:30.
