Beware of ATM tricksters

The tall and well-dressed ATM robber is back in Eden Park and Palmridge, and his quick ATM tricks are making him richer while residents are suffering and losing their hard-earned cash.

EDEN PARK – On Wednesday, December 10, the trickster robbed a woman of R1 000 at the Buy-Rite ATM at mid-day, while shoppers were going in and out of the supermarket. It happened in a matter of seconds.

“We were busy in the shop when we heard a woman screaming at the ATM. When we ran outside, we just saw the notorious tall thief jumping into a car that sped off. The woman had just withdrawn R1 000 and it was gone. We always warn people to be cautious of the tall guy,” said Jonathan.

The robbed woman explained to Jonathan that the trickster appeared from nowhere and just started pressing buttons over her shoulder. She said the man grabbed the cash and jumped into a car that was idling near the ATM.

A week prior to this case, the same tall trickster, who is always neatly dressed, robbed two people at the Corona Street Standard Bank ATM. Most of the victims are those who withdraw grant money at midnight or at 05:00 in the morning, which turns them into easy targets.

Beware of ATM tricksters. It is reported that they change cars and that they have been seen in a red and black car.
