Tree cutting – we apologise

To all residents who are upset about this incident - we do apologise as it was not done on purpose or to break any rules.

In response to the tree cutting article in the RECORD on November 11: I am the owner of the property where this tree was cut down. Yes, four units have been built and the tree was in the driveway, therefore it had to be cut down.

Yes, my partner and I where not aware of the procedure with regards to obtaining a permit from the Parks Board. The contractor who cut the tree down was one of the tree cutting guys who stand on the side of the road advertising his business. He quoted us and we said go ahead, not once did he say we need a permit to cut the tree.

A person from the Parks Board called us out to the site, and when we got there the procedure was then explained to us. We now understand and apologise. we showed the person that we would like to trim the other two trees a little of which he assisted us in cutting the necessary unwanted branches off. Permission was given with a reference number 12 48 711.

In summary, the person who submitted this article whom I know, and you know who you are, you are free to do this, but please get all the facts straight before you blow this whole thing out of proportion. Secondly, the tree is supposedly to be 40 years old, I doubt that very much. Have some people nothing better to do I ask you, and never pushed the boundaries, I doubt that and you all walk around with halo’s on your heads.

Has anybody noticed that we did one thing correct by taking the entrance of the property way in, so that not to allow the vehicles to stand in the street before entering the property?

To all residents who are upset about this incident – we do apologise as it was not done on purpose or to break any rules.
