Professor Mbele to perform at Wits

The campus After Hours project will be hosting a show at the Wits Linder Auditorium on November 29.

ALBERTON – The show will serve as a platform to groups who have been discovered by the project that was run in colleges and universities.

Professor Cosbie Mbele, author of Lady Africa in America and resident of Brackenhurst, will also be performing on the day. She will also be encouraging young people to write their stories and document their history.

Members of the Singobani Arts and Community Development Initiative (SACDI) will hold a workshop before the show from 9:00 to 11:00. This workshop will discuss issues like piracy, crime and abuse. The show will start at 11:00 and end at 19:00. Tickets are available at Computicket for R50 per person.

Groups that will be performing on the day include Eyami, Ekukhanyeni, Wits University music and dance groups, University of Johannesburg poetry and music groups, Ubuhle Benhlangano traditional dance group, Sakhumzi, Afro Soul Music sensation, Ladysmith Khethokuhle Isicathamiya group and many more.

Professor Mbele would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported her and her project for the past ten years. The project has been able to save the Arts on Campus project that has helped students to reach their goals and ‘be discovered’. These students are now in a position to create jobs for themselves and others.
