Part-time students excel
After the approval granted for part-time students to complete their studies for the Senior Certificate under the old syllabus has been extended to May-June 2014, Minister of Basic Education, Ms. Angie Motshega, made quite a few dreams come true.
ALBERTON – More than 100 students wrote the exams at Marais Viljoen High School and 67 have completed their Senior Certificate with the assistance of some of the Marais Viljoen teachers.
The top three achievers were Carmen Breytenbach with an average of 89 per cent with five distinctions, followed by Jo-anne Deib 83 per cent with five distinctions and Mariki Barnard 78 per cent with two distinctions.
The students would like to thank the following teachers who spent their free hours helping them: Mr Oosthuizen, Mrs Zwecker and Mrs Steenkamp. They also thank the invigilator Ms Veronica van den Heever, and a big thank you to the principal of Marais Viljoen, Mrs Heystek.
