Learner raises funds for mentor

Inspired learners raise funds for their mentor in need.

ALBERTON – Tyla Nepgen and her class 8C washed cars for a good cause on Friday October 31.

The class came together to raise funds for Mr Kevin Mostert from Brackenhurst Primary, who is in need of funds for a life-saving kidney transplant.

Tyla explains that they washed the teachers’ cars on Friday to raise funds for Mr Mostert. Their school has also doubled what they have raised and thus far they have raised R2 000.

She further relates how Mr Mostert has been a mentor to her. “Mr Mostert is the kindest, unselfish person who has made a huge impact in children’s lives.”

Class 8C has also gone so far as to challenge any other schools in Alberton, as well as previous learners of Mr Mostert, to do the same.

“We would like to challenge all the Alberton schools and see if they can better what we have raised by washing their teachers’ cars,” Tyla added.

Brackenhurst Primary hosted a fundraiser on Saturday November 1. The RECORD will keep the public updated on events and fundraisers to follow.
