Religious pilgrimage

On Saturday October 4, there is a pilgrimage right on our doorstep. You don’t need to fly out of the country or drive hundreds of kilometers to go on a religious pilgrimage.

WALKERVILLE – Everyone is invited to join Sister Rose (originally from Alaska) of the Walkerville Divine Mercy Catholic parish for the annual 30 km pilgrimage between Liefde and Vrede and Walkerville.

Pilgrims meet at 5:30 at the Maronite Church in Liefde and Vrede and leave at 6:00.

Breakfast, lunch and water, back-up cars and assistance from traffic officers will be provided and there will be food and toilet stops on the way.

“This is not a race, it is a Christian pilgrimage. While walking pilgrams pray, sing, reflect, chat to other pilgrims,” organisers of the pilgrimage explains.

The estimated arrival time in Walkerville is 15:00. You can walk all the way or part of the way. Or you can volunteer to help the back-up team.
