Sewage on another level

A number of sewage complaints have been attended to

Albertsdal – A male resident who would not like to be named living in Albertsdale, Strydpoort Street, has said that EMM representatives had come out last Thursday September 4 to fix a sewage condition in the area.

The sewage condition on August 28 was a major problem in the area, according to the resident. He mentioned that after two weeks, the EMM fixed what they needed to and then the EMM representative asked his neighbour for R150. The neighbour did not give the EMM representative the money and the EMM representative left.

The neighbour, Edwin Lefember, is paying for service delivery that is part of his monthly expenses, and was confused as to why he was requested to pay for this service.

EMM responded

“Over the past week we have received six complaints in the Alberstdal area and all of them were attended to and completed within 24 hours.

“None of them were in Strydpoort Street though. Employees of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality are remunerated by the metro and thus no additional payment should be made to any workers.

“Council employees should also not do any ‘private work’ on any stand; that is the responsibility of the stand owners.”
