Turffontein raises R100 000 for National Horse Trust

THE National Horse Trust, a fundraising body dedicated to preserving the lives of horses, held a successful charity race day at Turffontein Racecourse on Saturday August 23, raising over R100 000.

Focusing on the Gauteng, Eastern Cape, and KZN units, the National Horse Trust assists in carrying out vaccinations, de-worming and farrier work in order to improve the overall health of horses and donkeys. Since the organisation relies on sponsors, a charity race day is an important event, which empowers the National Horse Trust to continue carrying out its work, ensuring that horses receive essential healthcare support particularly in rural communities.

Organiser Lesley Delaney said, “As a racehorse owner who adores horses, I know that it’s costly to take care of them. Many horses, which aren’t privately owned, remain neglected without proper healthcare. Through the support of sponsors and the generosity of Turffontein Racecourse we are able to alleviate the plight facing so many horses.”
