Two suspects prowling in Verwoerdpark

In the past few weeks, a security company has been receiving complaints from residents living in Verwoerd Park.

They have received information that two well-dressed men have been breaking into houses and motor vehicles in the area. These suspects would break into cars parked in residential areas and steal items like bags and laptops from the vehicle. These suspects would then also try to get into the houses.

CPS Security had a tactile team patrolling these areas that went out on August 18. The reports indicated that the suspects were active in the bottom area of Verwoerd Park, close to Phillips Street, Jim FouchƩ Road and West Street.

The tactical team noticed two suspicious men in Pelican Road. They were on foot and when they noticed that CPS Security were patrolling the area, they immediately turned around and ran away. The suspects jumped over walls and went through properties to try to get away from the patrollers.

CPS Security chased them through the properties and was able to catch one of the two suspects in Stompneus Street. The second suspect was unfortunately able to get away.

It was later discovered that the two suspects were involved in an incident in Tempist Street, where they had broken into a vehicle and stolen various items.

CPS Security confirmed that these were the same suspects who were responsible for the previous break-ins, because the modus operandi was the same as seen in Tempist Street.

They found housebreaking implements on the arrested suspect, who was detained by the SAPS Alberton.

CPS Security would also like to let all Alberton residents know that if they notice something suspicious they should call their office 011 024 2426, this number can be phoned at any time.

  1. They are all thieves whether they are well dressed or not. Should leave half a bottle of whisky with rat poison mixed in it in the car and hope they drink it
