According to EMM power should be back on at 19:00

EMM Media relations office says: " Ekurhuleni engineers working hard to bring Alberton's electricity on"

ALBERTON -The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s engineers are working around the clock to restore the Alberton Power Supply at least by 19:00 this evening.

Parts of Alberton including Redruth, half Alberton North, Hillcrest, Alberton CBD and surrounding areas, Florentia Park, Verwoerd Park, New Redruth, and South Crest were without power yesterday and some got affected this morning, following an attempted theft on one of the three transformers at the Truida Substation.

All repairs, testing and cleaning has been completed. The power is currently being energized and expected to be back in some areas soon, and the whole affected area will eventually be back by 19:00 due to possible geyser load.

“We wish to assure residents that our maintenance schedule is up to date and the Truida substation is generally in a good condition because last year we have overhauled the substation and brought it back to new life,” Metro’s spokesperson, Themba Gadebe.

The municipality apologizes for the inconvenience.
