Caxton Reynolds Race: Pancakes for Madiba

This past weekend the contestants of the Caxton Reynolds Race 2014 flipped pancakes and served them to the public, all in the spirit of 67 minutes of Mandela Day.

KENILWORTH – Only the top four teams from the race participated in this task, at Kenilworth Spar, Joburg South, on Saturday, July 19.

The teams are: team Bedfordview and Edenvale News and Joburg East Express, team Kempton Express and The Tembisan, team Germiston City News and team Joburg South.

Each team had to make 20 pancakes from scratch, and after reaching the target they had to walk around the store serving the pancakes to the customers, all in the name of Madiba.

All the teams were in high spirits with this challenge and some of them reached the 20 pancakes target more than one time.

The reason why only the top four teams took part in this round of goodwill, is because numerically and following the points on the score card the other teams have already fallen out of the race, but they were also there for moral support.

These four teams will move on to participate in the finals of the race on August 2.

The winning team will walk away with an all-expenses-paid trip sponsored by South African Reynolds Travel Centre, from Springs.
