Family loses all their belongings in a fire.

The unemployed Mngomezulu family lost all their clothing, blankets and children's school uniforms in a fire that broke out in their bedroom on Sunday, July13.

EDEN PARK – “Because of the constant Eskom load shedding and the lights switched off every night, we use a lot of candles in the house. The fire must have been started by a burning candle, which fell over in the early hours of Monday morning.

“I was standing outside with my husband when we heard of our children screaming. We found the bedroom filled with smoke and high flames. We managed to put the fire out with blankets and water but the damage was already done.

“My husband lost his job and we are both unemployed at the moment. Why is this happening to us? We had a struggle getting school uniforms for our children and now it is all gone. The school is re-opening and I don’t know where we will find uniforms for our children,” said a tearful Erica.
