Alberton North couple to be sentenced for killing their two-year-old daughter

The parents of a two-year-old girl will appear again in Johannesburg High Court on September 26 for sentencing after being found guilty of the murder of their daughter.

The Alberton North couple, found guilty of killing their two-year-old daughter, appeared before Johannesburg High Court for pre-sentencing on September 16.

The married couple was found guilty on five charges, including murder, rape, two acts of child abuse, and assault with the intent of inflicting bodily damage.

The matter was postponed to September 18, for the state prosecutor and legal representatives to present their pre-sentencing statements before the judge.

The forensic analysis revealed that the girl died from wounds sustained 12 days before her death on May 15, 2021.

The State prosecutor, Riana Williams, stated throughout the trial that although the mother (accused number one) and the father (accused number two) mistreated their three children, it was unfortunate that one of them died.

Williams said as much as the parents have told the judge that they regret and are remorseful of what happened to their two-year-old, they are not sorry at all; however, they are sorry because they have been convicted.

Their court case was postponed to September 26 for sentencing.
