Alberton SAPS members say goodbye to late officer

The men and women in blue gathered at Metanoia Lifestyle Church to pay their last respects to Warrant Officer Thokozile Ngwenya on August 28.

On August 21, Alberton SAPS members lost one of their own after Ngwenya was struck down by a sudden illness.
She was one of the station’s dedicated and hardworking members.

“Ngwenya started working in the police force in June 2002 as a student. She became a constable in the following year, occupied the rank of sergeant in 2011 and was later promoted to the rank of warrant officer in April 2022,” explained communications officer Captain Manare Ramotshela.

Ramotshela described the late officer as a well-experienced member of the organisation with the capabilities of working outside the field and also excellently carrying out office duties.

“Her vast knowledge and experience rendered her viable to act in the position of commander when relieving our superior. She will be remembered daily as she leaves a void in our lives,” he said.

She will be laid to rest on August 31 and the service will start at 10:00 at 1017 Motloung Crescent in Spruitview.

Ramotshela said the station commander and her colleagues were taken by surprise by her passing.

“We did not expect this to happen. We wish her family and loved ones healing through this difficult time. We will forever miss her,” he said.
