Alberton Lions Club celebrates its members

Alberton Lions Club showed appreciation to a few club members who excelled in their line of duty in 2023.

Alberton Lions Club held its awards at Reading Country Club on July 27, led by Tania Steyn, the master of ceremonies.

The all-encompassing awards included project of the year, Lion of the year, and the Louis Volks Humanitarian Award.

The awards were a recognition of the excellent service of club members during the past year.

Clint Wallace and Courtney Lewarne rwere the Lions of the year for their involvement in the Railway Creche project and their outstanding work in marketing and social media.

“This award goes to someone inspirational at all the general business meetings, who has excelled raising funds for the club, who was part of the instigators assisting the Railway Creche, and who has gone more than the extra mile throughout the year.”

Sandy King was recognised for the eye screening project, receiving the Project of the Year award.

The outgoing president of Alberton Lions Club, Keith Holliman, received the Louis Volks Humanitarian Award, the highest award for the Lions Multiple District in South Africa.

The award was for appreciating his commitment to leading the club from July 2023 to June 2024.

The club gave its board members small trophies as a token of thankfulness for their loyal support.
