Brackenhurst Primary warms hearts

With a drop in temperatures, Brackenhurst Primary School showed generosity by spreading warmth to different members of the community.

Brackenhurst Primary School recently completed their annual Blanket Drive throughout the community.

The school showed acts of kindness to organisations in need after receiving money from the school’s civvies day.

The amount was paid to the local Rotary Club who then supplied at least 110 blankets.

Brackenhurst Primary delivered 53 blankets to the Corrie Oberholzer Old Age Home in Dinwiddie and 47 blankets to the Siyabonga Children’s Home. Another 10 blankets will go to those in need in Alberton through Tannie A.

Learners were also asked to bring new or second-hand blankets and towels which were also distributed to local entities.

“A lady in Brackenhurst who takes care of the marginalized in the area was given about 17 blankets. Cause for Paws in Jackson’s Drift informal settlement received a large number of blankets for distribution and Alberton SPCA also received blankets and towels,” Beryl Downs of Brackenhurst Primary School said.

She also said the school staff donated money and food for the SPCA and Rene Parker from Cause for Paws.

Downs said without the generosity of the staff and the families of Brackenhurst Primary School, this drive would not have been possible.
