The Animal Protection Network (APN) recently hosted their monthly fundraiser at Paws in Motion in 101 Second Avenue to support their mission of rescuing and rehoming pets in need.

Members of the APN gathered on May 4 for their monthly Boerie Day, where they sold boerewors rolls and cupcakes to raise funds for their furry companions.

The primary goal of this fundraiser is to collect funds that will enable the APN to rescue, care for, and find loving homes for unwanted pets.

Additionally, the proceeds will contribute to essential veterinary care for these animals, ensuring they receive the treatment they deserve.

Petro Lottering, chairperson of APN, expressed the organisation’s ambition to expand this successful fundraiser to other locations. “It is our goal to host similar events in different areas,” said Petro.

Members of the public who wish to support Boerie Day can contribute by donating bread rolls and condiments.

In urgent need of dog and cat food

APN is currently facing a critical shortage of dog food, puppy food, and cat food. “We welcome donations of any brand, including no-name brands. Every donation is deeply appreciated.”

“We are also looking for empty dog food bags,” said Petro.

Furthermore, APN operates a feeding scheme in local townships, providing meals to approximately 2 000 animals in need.

“Your contributions will directly support these voiceless furbabies and sustain our vital work,” said APN member Di Hingley.
