Woman murdered in Newmarket Park

Murder and robbery case registered in Alberton.

The Alberton SAPS received a distress call and responded to a scene of a crime where a 73-year-old woman was murdered in her house in a complex in Newmarket Park.

The incident took place on February 25. Preliminary investigations suggest the victim was not only murdered but also robbed of her personal belongings, such as her car and electronics.

According to a reliable source, there was no forced entry.

The police opened a case of murder and a house robbery. According to Captain Manare Ramotshela, Alberton SAPS spokesperson, the police thoroughly examined the scene and obtained statements from witnesses to aid the investigation.

Colonel Olehile Oliven Letloenyanyane, station commander of Alberton SAPS, issued a plea to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects involved in this crime.

He emphasised the importance of community cooperation in bringing criminals to justice and ensuring the safety of all residents.

“The Alberton SAPS is committed to pursuing justice relentlessly, and we will not rest until those responsible are held accountable for their crimes,” said Ramotshela.
