The green-eyed monster is back

It’s a big, bright, beautiful world for everyone’s favourite ogre in Shrek The Musical JR.

The Peoples Theatre is pleased to announce this upcoming production, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, taking to the stage from November 7 to December 24.

This rendition was adapted specially for younger audiences.

Shrek is portrayed in a lovable and fun-filled way to make him engaging and captivating to younger children. Shrek the Musical JR uses the magic of theatre, filled with song, dance and laughter, to leave a lasting impression.

In a faraway kingdom, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by fairytale misfits banished by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions.

When Shrek sets off with a wise-cracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he receives a task – if he can rescue feisty Princess Fiona from the dragon-guarded tower, his swamp will be returned to him. However, like any fairy tale, it wouldn’t be complete without unexpected twists and turns.

Part romance and part twisted fairy tale, this is an energetic, heart-warming, and hilarious show for the whole family with imaginative sets, costumes, and familiar characters that prove beauty is in the eye of the ogre.

Performances include Christmas, and school show times are Tuesday to Friday at 09:00 and 11:00. For the public and weekends, including school holidays, shows are at 10:30 and 14:30.
