Hitzeroth murder matter hit with another postponement

The couple accused of being involved in the murder of Gert Hitzeroth reappeared at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court where their matter saw another postponement.

A third witness was called to share his version of events when he took the stand in the Hitzeroth murder case at Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on October 11.

The court heard the matter of the couple accused of being involved in the murder of Hitzeroth and handed down another postponement.

Accused number one in the matter faces a charge of murder.

According to the State, he is accused of causing the death of the deceased by beating him with a baseball bat and drowning him in the pool. He has since pleaded not guilty.

Accused number two faces two charges. The first is for defeating the ends of justice, in which the State alleged that she hid the murder weapon from police and cleaned up the blood of the deceased.

The second charge against is of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm as an accessory. She has also pleaded not guilty.

After the testimony and cross-examination, magistrate Leeann Singh postponed the matter due to the State prosecutor not feeling well.

The two will reappear on November 27 and 29 for further hearing.

They remain outside on bail after being earlier granted bail of R15 000 and R5 000 respectively.
