Creative Academy group achieves big in Alberton Eisteddfod poetry division

The learners from Creative Academy does exceptionally well in poetry division

Annually, children of the Creative Academy Group participate in the Alberton Eisteddfod in the poetry division.

An impressive number of 164 children took part, ages ranging from as young as three to four years old through to the Grade Five learners.

From this group of participants an amazing 96 diplomas, 65 gold certificates and three silver certificates were accumulated.

Director Jenna Axsel said: ā€œTaking part in an event like this does not only push children out of their comfort zones but allows them to be part of something amazing.

ā€œHaving to learn a set poem not only develops their ability to memorise the details of the poem but challenges them to add in voice variations, facial expressions and painting a very clear picture around the meaning of their poem for their adjudicators.ā€

Public speaking is such a vital part of language development in the formative years, and the value of these types of events is immeasurable.

ā€œThe Creative Academy Group would like to thank their teachers and parents for giving the learners this opportunity and for preparing them so thoroughly, which assisted them in achieving these fantastic results,ā€ said Axsel.
